One of the best ways to get news about a community is through local news outlets. This is the case with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where alumni, faculty, and friends came to visit the campus during Homecoming festivities. In addition, the school hosted a virtual event.

In the fall, the IRIS Center hosted a Digital Humanities Student Showcase, where students showed their innovative work using digital tools and methods. Five students received a Circle of Excellence Award for their projects, which focused on engaging students and nontraditional students.

The Educational Leadership program has selected 10 students to participate in the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program. These students come from schools throughout the state, from small districts to larger ones. They are aspiring principals who are ready to lead and serve the needs of their communities.

As part of the celebration, SIUE hosted a late-night breakfast for students and the community. Chancellor James T. Minor gave a speech and invited alumni to attend the ceremony.

The school will also be hosting a celebration luncheon, featuring a musical performance, a keynote speaker, and administrators. A special collection of historical research was also received.

With these events, the university hopes to continue its commitment to the community. In addition, the university has kicked off its 2022 Homecoming celebrations. This year’s event includes an opening ceremony for Native Heritage Month and a virtual event. Both events will provide a way for the community to express their opinions, express their emotions, and interact with elected officials.
