Current news and events abound in the land of the free. However, how do you sift through all the information? Fortunately, there are some good free online news resources to keep you up to date on the latest developments.
One such resource is Inside U.S. Trade. This resource offers daily international trade news and related documents. It’s also available to onsite patrons at LC. To help you get the most out of the experience, this site provides an interactive Bottom Tab Bar, which allows you to customize your notifications and track the most popular stories.
Another noteworthy resource is SciTechDaily, a website that covers astrophysics, cosmology, astronomy, and Gravitational Waves. In addition, it also features a special section on space news and events.
Lastly, the IRIS Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hosted the aforementioned fall Digital Humanities Student Showcase. The event featured the latest in educational technology, and was an opportunity for students to showcase their innovative use of digital tools and techniques.
Although the IRIS Center does not have a traditional campus, it has a robust virtual presence, as evidenced by its recently renovated atrium. A $1.5 million donation from Enterprise Holdings Foundation funded the project.
With its new facilities, the IRIS Center is now one of the more well-connected universities in the area. As a result, it is able to attract a mix of alumni, community members, and local government officials. At its most recent event, attendees included SIUE Chancellor James T. Minor and a host of other dignitaries from across the region.
