The future of cable news may be streaming. Cable TV audiences are shrinking. In fact, Fox News is losing $20 a year in subscriber fees, as the number of people viewing it decreases. As a result, a majority of U.S. households subscribe to one or more streaming services. While traditional cable news has remained popular for decades, its audience is getting younger and more diverse. Streaming platforms like Hulu, NBC, CNN, and other cable news networks have taken advantage of this trend.

While CNN+ failed to attract viewers, the other major networks have high hopes for the new streaming service. Although CNN+’s launch was a failure, some executives are predicting rapid programming changes. While NBC News Now has a big name, it boasts 100 million video views each month. CNN, ABC, and Fox all have a history of investing hundreds of millions of dollars in their streaming operations. NBC News, for example, has a streaming app called NBCNewsNow and claims to stream up to 10 hours of content each day.

In the fall of 2003, Erin Litteken earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her novel, “The Holodomor,” tells the story of the horrors of the man-made famine in Ukraine, which killed nearly four million people during the Soviet era. The book’s publication coincides with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It has shocked many readers and Russian troops. For those in the know, this is a timely read.
