Streaming video news is becoming ubiquitous. While cable TV had long reigned as the prime source of local and national news, the last few years have witnessed the launch of a number of new streaming news services.
Streaming media has been criticized for resembling cable’s style. However, the three major news networks have already invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the streaming business.
These new offerings are designed to offer viewers a customized experience, allowing them to choose the content they want. They also provide timely news delivery. They also allow viewers to stream the content anywhere they want. Streaming news has shown to attract niche audiences.
Streaming networks also repurpose programming from cable. In addition to offering live broadcasts and documentaries, the major streaming services produce regular nightly news programs. These networks are chasing breaking news.
While these companies have high hopes for the new streaming service, they are avoiding overhyping the product. The free news streamers are simply trying to tell viewers that they can get cable-quality news for free. These companies want to earn a share of the $3 billion in profits that Fox, MSNBC, and CNN are expected to make in the next three years.
A new ordinance is expected to be introduced soon. It will establish a policy on handling public records requests, as well as a public records clerk position. It will also eliminate fees for sending records electronically. It is expected to be adopted in September.
