Jackie Robinson On Meet The Press: Black People ‘More Than Patient’ In Seeking Rights, Equality

Jackie Robinson joined “Meet the Press” on April 14, 1957, the day before the MLB’s season opener. This was the first time in a decade that Robinson was not playing for the league. Robinson discussed the state of civil rights and responded to criticism of the NAACP for “moving too fast.” He said Black people have “proven beyond a doubt that [they] have been more than patient in seeking rights.”

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has selected 10 students to be part of the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program, or ISLPP for short. The City of Sammamish Department of Community Development recently posted responses to public questions related to the city’s Arborist. Additionally, the City of Sammamish has appointed Steve Lysaght as its new police chief. Lysaght had previously served in the King County Sheriff’s Office.
