The Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville (SIUE) is getting ready to reopen its doors on January 3rd, 2022 after a brief hiatus. To mark the occasion, the university is hosting a slew of events and ceremonies, both on and off campus. Several alumni and friends were also on hand to help celebrate the homecoming.

The eponymous school’s reopening is also timed to the annual Winter Break, which begins on Dec. 23. In addition to its usual activities, the university will offer free childcare for students on a limited basis during the holiday.

SIUE’s Educational Leadership program recently announced that it has selected 10 students to participate in the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program. This is a program designed to help young graduates pursue leadership roles in the schools they graduated from.

Other prestigious newsworthy activities include the recent ribbon cutting ceremony for the school’s new $1.5 million atrium, which features an augmented reality (AR) display, as well as the announcement of a special collection of historical research.

One of the most coveted perks of being a student at the IL university is the plethora of co-curricular activities. One of the most interesting is the new entrepreneurship course that is aimed at college and high school students who want to launch their own startup businesses. As such, the school has put together a team of faculty and students with experience in business, technology, and other fields.

Another exciting development is a newly renovated atrium that was made possible thanks to a $1.5 million gift from Enterprise Holdings Foundation.
