These free news streaming services would love to earn a piece of that pie. They are attempting to emulate cable’s style and approach, telling viewers that they can cut their cable subscription and still get quality news. This will probably not go over well with cable subscribers, but they are trying.
One recent example of how streaming news is changing traditional television is CNN’s strategy to expand its reach. Streaming news arrived on demand and traveled wherever viewers were. The streaming technology enables viewers to customize their experience and reduces the scarcity factor in media consumption. Streaming news is a viable option for both broadcast and cable networks. And it’s easy to see why. It is a way for broadcasters to meet their audience’s needs and stay ahead of the game.
